In September 2011 W&P received accreditation for the ISO 14001 which runs alongside our existing ISO 9001 standard. Congratulations to the Green Team who have been working towards this accreditation over the past few years.

The ISO 14001 Environmental Standard is an internationally recognised accreditation that specifies a process for controlling and improving a company’s environmental performance. The benefits of achieving the ISO 14001 standard are:

• Provides our company with assurance that we meet, and will continue to meet, our environmental and corporate policies
• Shows our business partners, customers and community that we are environmentally responsible
• Reduces costs through potential process improvements and energy conservation

Since achieving the accreditation we have been working on a number of process changes within the company to improve our environmental effectiveness. We have recently reviewed the waste facilities and have a new contract with Biffa. This has enabled us to have a dedicated recycling bin which can take all types of recycling from plastic bottles to shredded paper. We now also bundle up our cardboard and plastic which we sell to a recycling centre.

W&P have been supporting Children in Need for five years and are holding our fundraising day tomorrow at our offices in Hailsham.

The W&P car wash will open from 9:00am until 3:00pm. We will be washing cars for anyone who wishes to come down and support us.

Sales office supervisor, Richard Hickman, will be cooking up a feast for staff and the public to offer bacon rolls, sausage baps and much more.

Get involved with the fun with our online fancy dress poll. We will be taking photos of the fancy dress competition entries and posting them on our website for you to rate them out of five. All votes are counted and the winner will be announced following the pub quiz at the end of the afternoon.

Over the past three months, W&P have been reviewing several of our ICT processes, in order to improve the reliability and speed of the service we provide to our customers and employees. The review highlighted our current internet service needed bringing into the 21st century and future proofing for years to come.

Today a final decision has been reached and W&P will be working with British Telecom (BT) to install & migrate all our online services to a new fibre optic leased line.

“The implementation of this new leased line will enable us to ensure that we are able to provide a reliable and fast internet service for customer and employees. Our internal ICT Department will be managing the migration across to the new leased line and we will be aiming for minimal disruption to all services” – Erik Morley, IT Manager.
