Wightman & Parrish

St Leonards Academy Green Team

Earlier in June, Wightman & Parrish donated a bundle of recycling and litter picking equipment to St Leonards Academy's Green Team.

The Green Team consists of students of all different ages and backgrounds, who have come together with a joint passion for improving the environment. The team gathers in their free time to undertake activities such as litter picking and encouraging more sustainable policies within the Academy, such as removing all plastic sachets from the cafeteria.

Wightman & Parrish donated 100 recycling bins, 36 litter pickers, two cases of bin liners and stickers for the bins. The Green Team were overjoyed with the donations and began to set up the bins straight away.

St Leonards Academy said:

"On behalf of the green team at SLA we are very grateful to have received such a generous donation from Wightman & Parrish. It is a great feeling to be able to join up with a great company and work with people of all ages to raise green awareness around our school and of our beautiful planet.

The bins donated have allowed us to start recycling more as an academy. Our student green team members are enjoying educating their fellow students on taking care of the environment and the important 3 R's (reduce, re-use, recycle). We have also been using the litter pickers to do regular litter picking around the Academy, which we hope to be able to do more around the community and the beach soon.

From all of us at The St Leonards Academy, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Wightman & Parrish! "

Over the last year, Wightman & Parrish have helped St Leonards reduce their washroom paper waste by introducing new Slimroll and Scott Twin Centrefeed Dispensers. The Wightman & Parrish Account Manager is now reviewing the soap used as switching to a more efficient hand soap could help reduce the amount of plastic they have to recycle.
